Simple But Not Easy

We love the feeling of reaching our goals. We put in all the hard work and even learn to sacrifice to find success and the feeling is great! But, sometimes we hit plateaus or obstacles that get in our way of continued progress.

Being aware that this is a normal occurrence and it will happen as part of the process means that we won’t be surprised when it does. We will already have a plan in place to execute and help us move past that plateau or around or even through that obstacle.

The best plan to have is going back to basics and focusing on the fundamentals. You can’t go wrong when covering your basics. In fact, the basics are always something we should cover. What happens is that sometimes we drift away from the basics because we get caught up with new material that’s advanced.

We go over the basics so often that the familiarity lulls us to sleep on them.

So, taking a step back and refocusing on the simple things can help re-center our mind, allow for physical recover and avoid potential burnout. But, simple doesn’t always mean easy and going back to basics, while important, can be difficult to do.

So, we need a built in plan for when we find ourselves stuck in a rut. This plan can work for almost anything. It is good for you and helps you reframe and shift your perspective. The plan is to go back to the basics and do these 3 things each day. See how many days in a row you can keep your streak going.

3 Back to basics fundamentals

  1. Drink 1 glass of water when you wake up in the morning.
  2. Write down 3 things that were good or went well for you at the end of the day.
  3. Take 5 deep, low and slow breaths before you fall asleep at night
